Graduating!!!

Humor me this! So when you go through high school, they say it’s such a learning experience and a huge period in your life for growth. THEN, they hand you a diploma saying “YES, you made it.”. At the same time, they say…. You still at not 100% ready for life. Now you must go out EXPERIENCE life and LEARN more! Make mistakes, do great, fail, experience, etc. Graduating high school is like this catapulting point in every young adult’s life.

Ok so now you wonder why I’m reminiscing on HS graduation? Well I’m not really. Comparing for comparison’s sake because I thought of this idea the other day when brainstorming for my “ONE YEAR BANDIVERSARY BLOG”!!! So I’m thinking that it’s like this:

OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY IS LIKE GRADUATING!!! (except where’s the diploma?)

So to explain. Most of us “elder” bandsters know that we knew very little in the beginning, immediately post op (aka Freshmen year). And it really is like once every 3-4 months we moved up a grade because with greater restriction, adding exercise, and exploring our emotions we are constantly learning more! And I’m assuming once we get to 1 YEAR, we know it all, we just don’t choose to do it all. Right?

So what do we do after graduation in high school (that we can do to celebrate 1 year banded)….hehe….

-Go out and celebrate!

-Set new goals

-Reevaluate old goals

-Feel wiser and calmer

-Stop stressin’ over “following the rules”

-AND live with a crazy, adventurous curiousity for life because we no longer have any limitations ( be that parental, mental, or physical) !

So you may wonder how my 1 year anniversary is going to change me, or if it even will. IT SURE AS HELL WILL! I already believe I rock, I know my possibility, but yet in comparison to my Grama, I still have lots to learn. So I’m going to continue to live my life, yet maybe with more zest. I pledge to not count calories, to not weigh food, to listen to my band out of love, to shoot for the stars with my new goals, to believe in myself daily, to chill out a lot on that number on the scale, and just enjoy the leisurely ride! Just chillllllllllll people! Lay back, relax, and soak up the enjoyment in YOUR life! Those are my words, my advice, and I hope it resignates with you.

Congradulations to me, Band Graduating class of June 2010!!!
