...and there was a dress...and a hurricane :/

I think we all have that one piece of clothing we wanted to get into when losing weight.

FOR ME, its a prom dress! Through high school I was 170-200 lbs. At 16 I set around 180 lbs. My Mom said she would buy me any dress I wanted for prom, but the one catch was that it had to be one size smaller than I currently was. So my mom bought me this $500, gold, JLo inspired dress in a 14! Sadly, that was not enough motivation to help me lose weight. IT NEVER FIT, FROM DAY 1.

I ended up wearing this black n white dress OF MY MOMS (wah wah!) N hated the whole experience.

Throughout the years I Carried it with me with every move, kept it n the back of my closet, for 9 yrs. About two yrs ago (when I was 295) my thigh wouldn't even fit n it n I almost got rid of it because it depressed me. It was a physical symbol of my failure.

I put it on today....

AND IT FIT!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I can accurately describe in words how amazing that felt, how rewarding, how proud! My heart felt happy. With nappy hair and no makeup, I FELT GORGEOUS! I immediately had my mom take pics and I texted them to several people.

Now the question is...WHERE CAN I WEAR THIS? I thought about our dinner in Chicago but figured it might b too dressy or formal. I'm hoping to buy a cocktail dress for that! Jeannie said I need to go to prom again, lol! Danielle said I need to find a ball to go to JUST to wear that!

This front shot is a lil blury, but it's a good pose!

OMG can you see no upper back fat spilling out!!! That made me so happy! And I think I faintly see some back muscle definition going on...pls baby Jesus tell me that's NOT skin!

And from the side. I like the caboose goin' on!

And for the hurricane....

I caught a lil glimpse of the news yesterday saying a hurricane is going to hit the East coast of Florida. I don't know all the details but I instantly thought of some of you gorgeous souls out there :/ I will pray for you and send good joo joo your way!!! I hope you guys all remain safe and sound!

And CHICAGO!!!

I was thinking about this cocktail dress situation for our dinner and wondered what the weather would be like. Google search says:

September Chicago Weather

•Average High Temperature: 74°F (23°C)

•Average Low Temperature: 55°F (13°C)

•Average Precipitation: 3.4"

AND I FOUND THIS EVENT:

Chicago Gourmet 2010 - September 25 & 26, 2010: "This foodie paradise features samples and demonstrations from over 50 of Chicago's best chefs, 300 wineries, and over 65 spirit providers. But be warned -- such gourmet decadence comes with a price."

So for weather and day outings I'm thinking jeans, bohemian style top, heels or flats, bangles, and dangley earrings!!! :D Love it! Guess I'll bring a sweater because knowing me being hot natured, 65 will be freezing to me! I have no solid idea for the cocktail dress but too tired to surf the web right now. Very excited about all of it, none the less.

Ohhhhhhhh NSV!!!!

Tonight I fit into a Medium top! I can't believe it!!! I seriously can't. That was my ultimate goal size for tops!!!! It's a sleeveless, polo! I'll hit the dating stuff later.

xoxo,
Libby Lou

  1. You crack me up! I am a new follower and have enjoyed looking at your past posts and pics. Do you have a camera installed on the sun visor in your car? :) How do you get such great car shots? Congrats on the dress. I have one of those waiting on me in my closet as well.

  4. Very beautiful! My husband has a work Christmas party that I get to dress up for (well, I dreaded it until this past year). I know there are military balls and things like that too if you date someone in the military. Around here, we also have Mardi Gras balls, mall balls, etc. I hope they have some things like that around there (or in Arkansas) for you to wear it.

  6. Oh Liz! I so get the incredible feeling you had when you put on that dress. Wanting something so badly and having it finally happen. AWESOME!! Good for you lady. Keep rocking it!

p.s. What about getting the dress shortened and it becoming your cocktail dress for Chi-town?

  7. What a beautiful dress... I would love to see you in it in Chi-town for our dinner but you might be a tag overdressed, you know what they say it's better to be overdressed than underdressed. Anyway, Rock on my sister! You look effin' fabulous! *Maria*-blogger from "This one time at BAND Camp..." Check out my blog at mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com

  9. Way to go with the dress. What a great story. Can't wait to meet in Chicago, but I think that dress might be a bit too dressy :-)

  10. Congrats on fitting into your dress. I can only imagine the feeling. I have no idea what I'm going to wear in Chicago, but I have a feeling there will be a wide range of outfits and sizes.

  11. You must have been so excited to finally fit into the dress, although it did make me a little sad that you couldn't wear it to prom. However, I love happy endings. You deserve it.

  14. Awwww that is so cool!

I don't remember what I weighed for prom but I got my dress from Lane Bryant, I think it was a size 20? I hated it from the get-go but it was the only thing remotely dress like that they had- this was in the mid 90's before LB clued in to the fact that they had quite a few HS age shoppers and not just old ladies (like me, now).

But the thing is: that pink floral dress is burned on my brain because it was a physical symbol of everything I hated about being a fat teen. It wasn't stylish, flattering, feminine, sexy or even something I would want to clean my floor with, but it was all I had.

I bet fitting into that dress of yours is beyond words. Enjoy!

  15. Wow, you guys rock! You sure know how to make a girl feel special! I love you all, love the dress, love the support and I am DETERMINED to find somewhere to wear it too!!!!!

Mom said worse case scenario I can wear it for halloween and be some kind of dead prom queen or something. And I will take that idea of trimming it up to be a cocktail dress...I will do something of value with this dress!!!

  17. You look beautiful in that dress! I don't know what I'm wearing in Chicago but I guess I will need to figure it out soon. I hope the temperatures are in the 60's so I can bust out the winter wardrobe! Although will any of my sweaters from last year even still fit? Hmmm.
