Questions! Questions!

So I'm early up b/c of my boys, it's 645am here. Generally am lucky enough to wake up at 7am but they had me up at 5 this morning. So no current weight news, I'm on (.) so I am waiting until after to weigh. My 3rd fill is tomorrow. My eating is good, no snacking, plenty of water, and my food amounts seem to range from 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food, which i know is too much. I'm not tracking calories anymore b/c I want this to be a more peaceful journey. I do stay full for 5-6 hrs still. I haven't drank w/ meals in a week so, so I'm bein a good girl w/ that. No exercise probably the last 4 days, I might try to tonight. I'm still tryin to adjust to this new routine of riley doing 30 min of homework a night and then readjusting our bedtime routine for him to go to bed earlier. I'm a major routine person, so when we have to change something it takes weeks for me to feel normal again.
So the chips, I have a few questions for seasoned bandsters, I really am just too lazy to email my nutritionist at this point.
-Are chips a cheat? I mean, do they slide down b/c they don't make me full. And I even prefer the healthy kind like Sun Chips that are whole grains and stuff, I love 'em. This is my go to snack if I feel like I'm starving at work b/c we have these in the vending machine and it's the easiest that isn't unhealthy.
-How much food are you guys eating? I eat 1 cup to 1 & 1/2 a cup of food but I think it really depends on what it is. It could be more sometimes. But if I think it looks like I got too much on my plate I will eat half of it slowly, then pause for 5-10 mins to allow my stomach to catch up then continue on if I'm not full yet.
-I haven't pd'd or had anything stuck (small incident after 1st fill b/c I was stupid) or ever slimed. What does this mean? Does it mean I just don't have much restriction or does it mean I'm chewing well and eating slowly? I do guzzle water and sometimes feel like cold sensation as it goes all the way down my esophogus. haha! And sometimes it feels like there's food sittin at my chest, but only like a bite or so b/c it's real small and passed quickly. It's like it's SLOWLY going down after I swallow. Is that normal??
-And last question, what is YOUR typical meal? Like most people have a general fav that they have at least 50% of the time (unless you're a master chef). I'mjust wondering what that is. My fav if I ever made it at home, is chicken breast w/ some kind of sauce and steamed broccoli, I loveeeee broccoli. (like the pic above) So I'm just wondering the kind of meals you guys have and maybe how big stuff is. I posted the chicken/broc pic above on lapbandtalk like 2 mths ago and this chick who's down like 120 lbs told me it was too much food. Before 2nd fill I'd eat all of it. I've had this at work twice since my 3rd fill and I ate half the chicken and all the broccoli, is that too much??? omg this is so confusing. HELP ME LADIES!!!
xoxo,
Libby Lou
Okay lady, that's a lot of questions! ;-) And I, being a baby bandster, don't have many answers, but I'll share some that I think I know.
ReplyDelete1 - Chips are a slider food in that they don't stay in your pouch. That being said, I have something desserty each night (e.g., a Weight Watchers toffee bar) and it's a slider food too. I don't expect it to fill me nor eat it for fuel but it does satisfy my dessert craving. I try to keep it something at least light like a WW treat. How many calories in the chips? That's probably a good way to test.
2 - Hard to say how much food I'm eating, but I stick to 950-1000 calories a day. When I'm on mushies or liquids I stick to a cup of food but on solids, it's harder to tell. Today for breakfast I had a slide of multigrain bread with reduced fat peanut butter (2 tablespoons) and 1/2 tblspoon of grape jam. For lunch I had a slice of light bologna, slice of cheese, three crackers and a yogurt. I guess if I mushed it all up it would be about a cup of food... ;-)
3 - I haven't pb'd yet either but I've only had one fill. I have felt the pressure in my chest though that tells me to slow down. Once when eating tuna with crackers and this morning while eating my toast. I chew really well and haven't had an issue with any food yet (haven't tried steak).
Hope that helps!!
I put everything I eat in a one cup bowl and eat no more - i have a very hard time telling what I really eat unless I put it in that bowl to really see how much it is... I always miss-judge and end up trashing some becaue my idea of one cup and a real one cup are very different - If I don't measure I eat too much - my doc says if your eating more then 1 cup you need a fill.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that eating half the chicken and all the broccoli is a bad thing. I personally would eat all of the chicken and half of the brocolli but that's for the protein content mainly. You are doing a great job and look great!
ReplyDeleteI struggle with chips sometimes. I know that they are a go to when I want to eat something that won't give me any problems, but isn't the smartest band food.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite good meals is eggs. I will make a big omelet with turkey bacon, lots of veggies and some cheese and put them into little one cup containers and freeze them and take them to work for lunch.
Thanks for the insight! Yeah chips are probably the worst for me b/c when most people crave ice cream, cake, or candies.... I crave chips. So I don't really feel taunted by the sweets, I'm the salty craver.
