Need your opinion...
...anybody heard of this HCG shot? It's the hormone produced in pregnant women that controlls metabolism and something to do with your skin. It's a big thing around Phoenix right now. My mom is STRONGLY considering doing it. You inject the shot into your but daily, do it just for 6 wks and the SHOT BURNS2000 calories worth of stored fat daily. It attacks the oldest fat first, ie, that lower tummy fat. People are losing 20-30 lbs/mth and my mom's friend who was only "overweight" lost 40 lbs in 6 wks.
My mom is saying she'd like me to do it with her b/c it is supposed to help the elasicity in your skin as well. Another friend of my moms did it and lost 100 lbs and has NO saggy skin and didn't even work out. You'r enot allowed to work out b/c your body is burning so much fat.
I'm wondering if it would help with my lower tummy sag??

My first from the gut reaction is NO. I havent heard of it so I did some googling. These things worry me :

AND The hormone also stimulates the ovaries to release an egg. An hCG shot will cause ovulation to occur within 36 to 48 hours.
It seems like a fad to me, and we had the lapband to learn how to lose weight and change our life for good...and if it causes and egg to drop in 2 days...that would make you more fertile and I would think make your period go crazy?
With that said, I have no idea! I would talk to your WLS doctor first, see what he has to say. Do some research and let us know what you decide!
Hey there- I am with Amy. I keep reading a lot of articles about HCG and it's not good. THE FDA has not and will not approve it for weight loss because it's dangerous. And, increasing those hormones is also supposed to increase your risk for breast cancer, because it surges the estrogen upwards.

I have to say it sounds great, but I would think it would be dangerous too in the long run. I can't imagine the side effects you could have. I say stick with what your doing. You are doing it the right way. You didn't gain it in 2 months so you defiantly won't lose it in 2 months. Love ya sis.

Wow I hadn't even done that much research yet. I totally believe it though, I've had an odd feeling about it but I feel like if I say anythign negative about it to my mom she could easily throw at me what I've done. Besides, this is the easy way out, right? haha! riiiiiiiiight! So, I will slowly try to talk her out of it. If not, let's pray she does it, it works, she stops it, and her health is all good. She has no uterus to jack up, it's all been taken out.
