I wanna share!
Today I wanna share. I wanna share things I've found delightful and enlightening. So here goes.
Dr. Kevin Leman is a wonderful, famous Child and Relationship expert. He is a psychologist, author, and motivation speaker. If you have ever HEARD him speak, you will love him. He's hilarious, realistic, intelligent, totally reasonable, and has a joyous sense of humor! I love him! Here is an article of his I just read on single parenting.
This blog article of his, touched me! He doesn't maintain this blog anymore but I'd like you guys to read it and think about it. It applies to ANYBODY.
It saddens me because my first memory as a child is bad. It's one of the saddest most horrible things that I think ever happened to me and oddly, it is my earlier memory. Just to explain a TINY bit; my moms ex husband (my stepdad at the time) got onto me for eating "his" food. God this sucks just talking about it. He was gone and so my mom made a sandwich for me with "his" lunch meat, he came home, found out, freaked out and I ran to my room and hid in my closet while he took it out on my mom. :( See what Leman says... think about that.
A book of his I want that I don't have.... "How to live in a step family without getting stepped on". The description of it : "When you bring two families together, you can be guaranteed some Armageddon evenings. When these families unite, they don't blend--they collide," says Dr Kevin Leman. Yes, you can blend a family--without breaking it and the principles in this book will help you come up not only a survivor but a winner--Leman promises! "
So what I've been doing with kettlebells the last 2 days.... (which I love, love BTW!!!)
I've learned 3 "moves" so far. I do the "The Swing", "One Arm Swing" on each arm, and "High Pull". The High Pull FEELS like it works the most. You hold the bell in front of you with both hands, squat down until it ALMOST touches the floor, stand up, (as you bring it up mid section you HAVE to flex your abs) pull it up, then pull it up above your boobs flexing your chest, tricepts AND upper back! Love it!!! that is the fascination with kettlebell. I think it has to do with the way you hold it with both hands, it just seems to workout muscles all over. I hope I'm sore all over tomorrow! I think the only muscles I didn't totally workout during those 3 moves is my calves, that it. LOVE!
Right now my arms hurt soooo bad! But it's good, you know because I'm working out muscles I've been ignoring! :D Today I somehow managed to get over my gym insecurity! I went straight to the weight lifting room as soon as I walked in. I did kettlebell's for 30 mins, dripping sweat, breathing heavy, until I was shaking all over! Then I did the "Wide grip pull down" , "Chest press", and "Vertical chest press". THAT hurt. But when I set down at the machine to do all 3of those moves on the 1 machine, the boys started watchin'. I felt I had to do well. I put the weight on 30 lbs and it felt too easy. So I did 50 lbs, 3 exercises, 15 reps each, then did that twice. The last 10 reps I did almost killed me but one of the trainers was watching me so I was focused on perfect form and breathing. :D I wanted to LOOK good! :D
Made a banana protein shake the other day with my rockin' delish protein powder! Took a pic for you guys!
Tried this Clif Mojo bar for the first time today, post workout! And it was sooo marvelous!
Thought I'd also share how much I love Annikan Skywalker! He is the good guy of the Star Wars Saga and around episode 3 he turns evil, ie. Darth Vador. But before his face and skin was all jacked up and his heart turned to stone, he was a lovely young man with a deep love for Padme (pronounced Pad-may). This pic is them together. I love her charector so much...I just named our stray dog Padme. Incase I haven't mentioned it here, about 3 wks ago a mini poodle popped up on our front porch and I started feeding her. (she was for sure homeless and tore up, we've been nursing her back to health) Then after a week I decided we'd keep her so I put her in the back yard, bought her a collar, gave her a bath, etc. And we JUST named her Padme. My boys and I LOVE Star Wars! :D
Our Padme below! haha! She's so dirty, this was AFTER her first bath and she decided she'd roll around in the DIRT. I guess it just felt good.
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Wednesday!
xoxo,
Libby Lou! :P

Sounds like you kicked butt and took names.
ReplyDeleteWow, you are doing SO AMAZING!! And yay for kettlebells! I've been working on the swing and the get-up this week. I'm having trouble mastering my swing form. I'm definitely working up a sweat though! Love the dog, she kinda looks like an Ewok! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow! We have a lot in common. I'm from Arkansas, but I live in SoCal now. I believe in the Law of Attraction and try to work it every day. I love your dog, Padme, even though I'm usually a cat person. BTW, you are ROCKING those kettlebells!
ReplyDeleteDang, I cant do turkish get ups to save my life!! How many pound kettles are u using? I have a 26 pound one and its so hard
ReplyDeletewow Monica! Go you! I'm starting with 15 lbs. And the solo arm swings I'm doing 10 lbs.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried the "turkish get up" but I just tried it on my office floor holding my shoe over my head (LOL) just to see HOW you would go about getting up with one arm up in the air. lol! it was funny! I laid on the floor, thought about how tired I was, forgot about the exercise and almost passed out on the floor! I'm sooooo tired! THEN I did do it. I think it'd be hard. But I'm not about to try that at the gym w/ the men.
ReplyDeleteYou are a workout maniac!!! Good for you and keep up all the hard work!
ReplyDeleteTREKKIE!!! Next thing you know you will be skipping out on me at Chicago to go to a convention!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steph! I'm only a maniac when I'm AT the gym. Right now I can't convince myself to get off my ass! LOL!
