Losing it with Jillian & MY Plan

Alright ladies. So I ate good portions today AND I didn’t skip a meal. I did have 1 monster (when we ran to Walmart) but no sweet tea (yay!) AND I drank a ton of water. Seriously, a TON! So then I’m watching some TV after the boys went to bed, and got tired of CSI. So I’m scowering Hulu for some kind of fitness or inspirational show. I come across “Losing it with Jillian” and I love her so I checked it out! I LOVE IT! The show made me cry and laugh and inspired me within the first 20 minutes. THEN I remembered how I used to watch The Biggest Loser forever ago I would EAT while I watched the show. And the whole time I would say to myself “I could take Jillians beating…I wouldn’t bitch like that…I’m tough”, etc. Sooooo, tonight I decided I’d just do it. She’s yellin’ at this man to do push ups and I thought “I can do that…right now”. So I get up, grab a notebook to write down what I do and just start doing ten of everything I could think of. Any position or pose I had done before so that I’d known I was doing it right.

I did:
Pose where you support yourself on the edge of a chair and lower yourself down with your arms (idk what that’s called) 10x
Lunges 10x each leg
Girly push-ups 10x
Squats over a chair 10x
Standing Leg Lifts 10x each leg
Full Sit ups 10x
Lower ab lifts 10x

So I did those 10x each and then decided I’d repeat. Yay! So I did them all 10x again EXCEPT I did the girly push-ups 15x the second time because I was so pumped! :D

So I don’t really know of any other exercises to do at home other than those. I’m considering buying p90x so I can ton my muscles. My MD said I have GREAT MUSCLE MASS and so I just need to melt the fat AND rip the muscles!!!!!!!! This whole time at the gym I always do cardio but I’ve spoken about being a trainer more than a few times, and I was serious. So….I can’t even consider being a trainer w/o knowing exercises and a whole lot more than I know now. So tomorrow at my gym, I’m going to talk to a trainer there and see which exercises I should do.

I will say; the lunges killed me. After the first 5, I was SORE AS HELL. This has always been a weak “exercise” for me, maybe because of my “saddlebags”. So that just means I need to do them a ton more. And when I did the chair lift thingy for my arms, that felt soooo good. I could tell the muscle was weak and it was just that perfect level of “difficult” but not too hard to complete it. So I’m super stoked about that!!!

xoxo,
Liz

P.S. THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT! I'm setting a weekly goal for myself right now. I want to put in 10 hrs at the gym this week, Monday through Friday. So I can shoot for 2 hours a day, which is feasible. However, if I miss one hour, then I've got to do 3 on another day! So tomorrow I'm hoping for 2-3 hrs in the gym. I'm even planning on taking a snack with me to replenish my energy levels while at the gym. So I'm planning on EATING AT THE GYM! lOL! Doesn't that sound funny?!?

OHHHH, last thing. Please suggest some exercises for me to do!!! Anything for abs and arms, those are my weakest muscles!

  1. Ok well, first I love that show too!! Watch it every week. Then the chair thingys are called chair dips.
-Bycicle crunches (lay on back lift shoulders off floor, pull one knee at a time in as if pedaling a bike)
You can do push-ups in alot of ways, there are
-wide hands, hands are more than shoulder with apart,
-you can put your hands close together and turn your fingers to each other,
-there are military push-ups, where you make a diamond shape on the floor with your thumbs and index fingers.
    -jumping jacks
-squat jacks (where when you come down you go all the way into a squat.
There are lots of things you can do at home, I just have to have someone to lead the way which is why I like a program. Alot of this I do everyday in Insanity. So if you want more I might could email you a list. But your doing great, so don't try and kill yourself. And I would do the girly push-ups if only if you have to, cause the real thing, really works your stomach muscles. So I would do a couple of normal ones, then do girly ones and back and forth. til you work up to doing all normal ones. Hope this helps!

  2. Wow, you are fired up! Lunges were killers even when I was in shape! I always thought it would be fun to be a trainer...you could work out daily as part of your job. :) Go for it! Then you could write about it too! Great goals! I'm very impressed!

  3. Ooo!! The Side Plank is great (you should do it after your crunches/sit ups it's awesome!!), um the V Crunch, the Reverse Crunch, Oblique Crunch, all of those for the abs... for the arms try the overhead dumbbell press, flat bench dumbbell press, lying triceps extension, alternating dumbbell curls... there's just tons!! I've learned about these through all the magazines I bought!! lol They are in the new Oxygen, Fitness, Shape, and Prevention! They are awesome!! :) Hope that helps a bit!! And congratulations on working so hard!! Go Liz!! :)

  5. I'm about to write a post about something I discovered recently. Kettlebells. This was the first article that piqued my interest:

    http://nopain2.org/archives/000068.html

I basically found it researching the P90X. This chick went through the full P90X program and said it definitely got her in shape, but then she picked up kettleballs and was blown away. The most important factor for her was that P90X required an hour plus per day for a full body cardio workout, whereas a proper kettleball workout will give you cardio and strength training at the same time, thus you only need to do it for half the time.

Anyway, I'm gonna do a full post on it so I won't spam your comments with too much mundane detail, but when you mentioned your goal was to get 10 hours in the gym this week (which is what I was aiming for a few weeks ago) all I could think of is my new mantra, "Work smarter, not harder!" =)
