85??

Ok. So question for you guys. When you say on your blogs or FB or your ticklers how much weight you’ve lost, what do you put as your “starting weight”?? Do you do your highest ever? Or your pre- pre op diet weight? Or you surgery day weight?

I’ve always done my pre pre op diet weight because I like to acknowledge the weight I lost the few months before surgery (to prepare for the surgery) because I worked for those pounds too. For example, here’s a refresher on my numbers:

Highest EVER: 295
Lap band consult: 285
Started pre op diet: 278
Surgery Day: 269
NOW: 210

So, I just wanted to ask you guys because tonight I was doodling on www.myfitnesspal.com and adjusting and customizing my tickler thingy because I think it’s super cute and wanted to add it to here to my bloggity blog blog! I looked at and it said I’d lost 70 lbs. Well I knew that hadn’t crept up on me without me knowing it. So I go back and look and I had accidentally put in start as 280 rather than 278. So 208 for me will be a big milestone (in the world of 10’s!). So I’m trucking along on the site and I thought “Wait a damn minute! What am I doing? I lost ALL that weight. Whether with or without the band, I fought for all of that every single pound. I deserve to celebrate EVERY pound lost!” So I went in and changed my tickler to my start weight being 295 (my highest ever) and decided I needed to enjoy THAT!

SO I HAVE OFFICIALLY LOST AND KEPT OFF 85 POUNDS TOTAL!!! HELL YES I HAVE!!!!

So I don’t know how you guys do it but this is how I chose to do it. I will keep the specific digits over on the right for any new followers or forgetters who want to check and see where I was highest, surgery, now, etc.

Kettle bell: I saw this past Thur that a guy at my gym was walking around with one. So come Mon I’m going to give it a try at the gym, with some direction from my gym owner/trainer. I’ll let ya know how that goes! If it feels awesome, makes me sore as hell and looks good with my hot pink weight lifting gloves….THEN I’LL BUY ONE!

Zumba: AND I wanted to share with you guys that I found out my gym does offer Zumba 2x a week during the workweek and they happen to offer a few hours of childcare on those days (1 hr tops). But…. So I signed up for Mon evening zumba! I’m soooo stoked to see how it goes. The guy I talked to about it looked me up and down (seriously) and said “It’s hard!” I’m thinking “Fuck u!” I’ll show him!

So Friday: I did not workout. I needed 3 more hrs to meet my weekly goal of 10 hrs but I just couldn’t. Physically I felt fine and had mental motivation and all that jazz…just no time. Seriously, no time. I thought about it all day “can I go in an hour? No, damn it!” “Can I go at 4? No, damn it!”. So that leads to my next point….

Cravings: I am now craving physical activity. Praise baby Jesus! I worried all day Fri about not having time to workout. I want to get to 199, I want to meet my running goals. I’d love to be in a 14 by the time I go to Ark. I’m thinking about it a lot again. FOCUS IS ON PAR! Then all day today, I thought “What can I do to get some activity?” Well I was gonna run outside (112 degrees) at my moms while my boys swam, but I forgot my clothes. So then I figured I’d play/swim in the pool for a solid chunk of time, kick a lot, get winded, swim hard and maybe that’d count for something. I put it in my website as “leisure swimming” and it said 400 calories, so not too shabby. But I love how now all of a sudden, I’m thinking of food before hand and hoping and planning workouts. It’s awesome to see this inside me again! And I'm MORE concerned with food now than I EVER have been in this journey thus far! That’s a good thing!

Strength Training: I’ve been doing the workouts at home every evening. I do 10 each of the sit ups, girly push ups (Sis, I tried a real push up and that’s a NO GO for real, I bow to the woman who can do them but I am not there yet) chair dips, etc. I’ve been doing them every night and my lower abs have been sore EVERY SINGLE DAY and I love it b/c they are finally getting the workout and movement they need to improve!

Food: pretty good. MFP says I can eat 1700 cals a day, but I wanted to stay under 1500, that sounded decent to me. Mary said she does 1100 tops and so I’m thinking maybe I should shoot for 1200. Because even with the goal of 1500, it seems I haven’t gone over 1300. So maybe watch it more and shoot for 1200 and see what happens. Obviously more on days of long workouts!

Damn Monsters: So I haven’t been able to shake the damn habit! It’s like a 2 yr old that is attached to my ankle following me every where, screaming so loudly I think people can hear and I talk TO IT! Ugh! Stupid! However, I haven’t had sweet tea in over a week. Considering reintroducing it soon but using splenda because there are good benefits to black tea. But so once I started tracking my food I did add my daily monster and quickly discovered it’s disgusting b/c of this:

Monster- Regular
Calories: 200
Carbs: 54
Fat: 0
Protein: 0
Sodium: 360
Sugar: 54

Oh yeah baby, I took that picture of myself and my monster just for you guys! :P

FYI: Don’t google “monster” alone or else you get some creepy images! Wasted calories and a shit ton of Carbs!

So then while on that site I looked up the low Carb Monsters that I see ALL THE TIME and never buy. Thought I’d check out how they measure up.

Monster- Low Carb
Calories: 15
Carbs: 5
Fat: 0
Protein: 0
Sodium: 270
Sugar: 5

MAJOR DIFFERENCE! So 2 days ago I switched my addiction (transfer addiction have you) to Monster Low Carb and see if I can hack that until I can CUT OUT that addiction. Right now I don’t guess I care enough to cut it out all together!

xoxo,
Liz

  1. I always had my ticker at my pre-surgery weight - what I was as I started my liquid diet. I think this is an honest account of 'before' we started - but you know, every person has their own idea :)
I hear you about craving physical activity... and how did that happen exactly? It's weird to think we are now seeking out getting active.

  2. Great milestones! I will probably put my ticker as my pre-surgery weight. I don't have to do a liquid diet beforehand, so not sure that I will lose much on my own...As for pushups, I agree, "real" ones are HARD! After doing personal training for a YEAR I'm still not able to do one....but I can do about 25 girly ones (started off at about 8). I'm hoping when I'm not having to press as much weight (my body) I'll be able to do some real ones!

  3. OMG - love that monster picture of you. LOL And screw that guy who thinks you can't do Zumba...jerk!

  4. Interesting question about the weight ticker. Right now I'm using mine to show what I lost on the Hot Summer Meltdown. I started the challenge a few weeks prior to surgery so I do show about 10 lbs I lost prior to surgery. Don't know what I'll do once the challenge is over. Don't think I can stand taking my presurgery weight loss off my ticker. Congrats on your 85 lb loss.
